Work underway on new Hemel Hempstead RDC

Leading UK carpet manufacturer, Cormar Carpets, is investing in a new purpose-built distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead which has the potential to bring 60-70 new jobs to the town.

Work is already underway at the £15m, 130,000 square foot facility which will stock and distribute carpet and enable Cormar to consolidate its regional hub network across the south of England.

Said David Judge, managing director at Cormar Carpets: “Hemel Hempstead is a perfect location for us and we are delighted to have secured this building. We look forward to being part of the local business community and providing employment opportunities within the Hemel Hempstead area.

“The new distribution site is a significant investment for Cormar and the next few months will see further acceleration in activity including the installation of new equipment and recruiting staff. This demonstrates our total commitment to prompt delivery and providing excellent customer service.”

The new distribution centre will sit alongside the company’s existing outbase depots, providing additional support to current facilities in the loading bay and cut lengths department at Cormar’s Brookhouse Mill site in Greenmount, Bury.

Cormar run a distribution fleet of over 60 vehicles, delivering to retailers, contractors and wholesalers throughout Great Britain and Eire, on a daily basis.
