Voted Best Carpet Manufacturer 2022
For the tenth year in succession Cormar Carpet Company is delighted to be voted the UK’s Best Carpet Manufacturer by readers of Interiors Monthly. Receiving the award again is a great privilege and we would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers, suppliers and colleagues for their ongoing support over the past year. We have been manufacturing carpet in the UK for more than 65 years from our mills in Lancashire. The key to our success has been our amazing team of people that work behind the scenes to ensure a first-class delivery service to retail, wholesale and contract customers. In addition to the team spirit, we have continued to invest over the past 12 months. In the last year, three new ranges have been successfully launched into the trade. We have expanded our family of easy clean carpets with the addition of Primo Tweeds and Linwood, followed by the introduction of Riva, a luxurious deep-pile carpet offering a balance between the practical living qualities of easy-clean polypropylene carpet and the sumptuous feeling of a soft deep carpet. This year has also seen the relaunch of our popular Apollo Plus range, now available in an extensive palette of 22 heather and plain shades. Another service enhancement has been our award-winning Trade Portal. Since its launch in 2011, the portal has gone from strength to strength with 59% of customers now placing orders via the online service. With a host of new features introduced this year, the portal is now better than ever, making it the place to go for online trading amongst carpet retailers. In the past year, we have invested over £75,000 towards improvements such as a full system re-build, a brand new after-sales area, and a number of other features which have been highly requested by portal users; enabling customers to carry out most of their interactions with Cormar online, should they choose to do so. This year also marks the completion of one of Cormar’s largest investments in its Backing Plant. Over £600,000 has been invested in the plant this year, as part of an overall upgrade strategy. The recent work involved the replacement of the front-end entry equipment which is responsible for preparing unbacked rolls prior to latex application. Taking 12 months to complete, the Backing Plant is now benefitting from improvements in runnability and quality - as well as a cleaner, more modern looking plant. Cormar has been at the forefront of carpet manufacturing for the last seven decades. Key to its success is its family business philosophy, as David Cormack, Marketing Director at Cormar said: “To be awarded the Best Carpet Manufacturer for the tenth year in a row is a huge honour for all at Cormar Carpets. This year we’ve made huge investments in the business that take us forward as a dynamic and leading-edge player in the market, so it’s great for the Cormar team to be recognised once again for the hard work and determination that they have put in.”
Bouclé Neutrals Discontinuation
In anticipation of our next new range launch this Summer, we will be discontinuing the Bouclé Neutrals range with effect from July 2022. Unfortunately, this means that stock of certain colours is running low and a few are now out of stock. Therefore please check portal stock levels or contact our sales office before confirming an order. We look forward to announcing our new range early in August. Thank you for your continued support. David N Cormack Marketing Director
Cormar Invests in Backing Plant
Award winning carpet manufacturer, Cormar Carpets, are proud to have committed to one of the largest investments in its Backing Plant in recent times, improving both quality and service, solidifying Cormar’s position as a market leader. An investment of £600,000 has been made to the plant, based in Lancashire, as part of an overall upgrade strategy. The recent work involved the replacement of the front-end entry equipment which includes the J-box and cleaning unit, a new vertical steamer, weft straightener and latex mixer. All of which are responsible for preparing unbacked rolls prior to latex application. Taking 12 months to complete, the Backing Plant is now benefitting from improvements in runnability and quality - as well as a cleaner, more modern looking plant. Adrian Knott, Cormar’s Backing Plant manager said “The overall aim of the project was to improve the resilience and reliability of the Backing Plant whilst at the same time improving quality and service. We are pleased to report that this has been a success, and this is testimony to the amazing effort from everyone involved.” The recent investment highlights Cormar’s commitment to continually improving the business, in order to improve productivity and customer satisfaction, and build upon its award-winning service and product offering.
Relaunch of Apollo Plus
This Summer, we are relaunching our popular Apollo Plus range with brand new colour options. First launched in 2010 and popular ever since, our Apollo Plus range will now be available in an extensive palette of 22 heather and plain shades. Introducing 9 brand new colours including statement reds and steel blues to extend the appeal for consumers seeking to introduce a practical, yet stylish carpet into their home. As with most of our easy clean family, Apollo Plus is made from 100% Excellon Polypropylene, providing uncompromising quality alongside a competitive price. Loved by retailers and consumers alike, the range is also bleach cleanable, has a 10-year stain and wear warranty, and will be presented on our new look point of sale. David Cormack, Marketing Director at Cormar Carpet Company said: “Having had such a great reaction to our Apollo range since it first launched in 2010, we’re excited to be introducing even more colour options to this enduringly popular range. “Apollo Plus is suitable for use all around the home and those looking for an affordable carpet that is both hard-wearing and stylish. It ticks all the boxes and with the new colour additions, we are confident the range will remain a firm favourite for years to come.”
2022 Award Winners!
Once again Cormar Carpet Company are delighted to be a Flooring One award winner, in their annual Supplier of the Year Award competition. Voted for by more than one hundred retail members of the Flooring One buying group, the scores are based on delivery performance, quality and response to quality issues, products and sales support/communication. Award winners for the last 14 consecutive years, the accolade cements the carpet manufacturer’s leading position in the industry as a company that produces high quality products, invests in staff and expertly services the flooring industry. “We’re delighted to, once again, to be recognised for all the dedication and commitment from the Cormar team,” said David Cormack, Marketing Director at Cormar. “This year we came a close second, but the voting still makes us immensely proud of all the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment everyone at the company has put in to continue delivering our market-leading products, first class delivery service and excellent customer service to independent retailers throughout the UK and Ireland.”
Welcome To Two New Territory Managers
We are pleased to announce that two new Territory Managers have joined Cormar in April. Both Heidi Williams and Steve Leys have been recruited following the vacancy created by the retirement of Mick Binks who worked 12 years with the company covering Bucks, North Beds and the Cotswolds. Between Heidi and Steve, they have nearly 30 years’ experience in the carpet industry and are looking forward to forming relationships with retailers in these regions and build on the Cormar service proposition. Steve will be covering the North Herts, Beds, Bucks and Cambs areas and Heidi will be responsible for the North Cambs and Part Northants regions. Both have undergone their induction programme and are now on their territories visiting customers, old and new. We welcome them to Cormar and know they will both have long and successful careers.
This Spring, we are introducing our latest range, Riva – a luxurious deep-pile carpet in a modern palette of plain colours. Building upon the ongoing popularity of our Sensation ranges, Riva brings a new dimension to our family of soft deep-pile carpets - providing a balance between the practical living qualities of easy-clean polypropylene carpet and the sumptuous feeling of a soft deep carpet. The range will be available in 16 stylish plain shades including a strong collection of popular greys and warm neutrals, alongside some bolder colour choices; giving home-owners outstanding choice to complement any interior design. Marketing Director, David Cormack said: “We are living in a time of high inflation, so Riva is perfectly timed for the market. It offers fabulous value in the soft deep pile market sector and has great consumer appeal. The combination of the firmer handle of our easy clean carpets, together with the softness of a multi-filament yarn makes it a real winner.” Riva is manufactured from two-ply yarn and is both bleach cleanable and stain resistant. It also includes a 10-year stain and wear guarantee. Also due to its resilient properties, Riva is suitable for use all around the home, although it is clearly a classic for bedrooms and nurseries, spaces in the home where extra softness is desired. As well as bringing a new bank of on-trend shades to our family of soft deep-pile carpets, Riva will be displayed on our new-look point of sale material, featuring an eye-catching design and communicating the ranges key benefits to the consumer.

New Managing Director for Cormar Carpet Co.
As of April 2022, Ian Ford has taken up the position of Managing Director at Cormar Carpet Company, following a comprehensive search and thorough recruitment process over the last eight months. Ian has lived in the North of England for many years and joins us with a textile manufacturing background, having previously been Managing Director at a Lancashire based, specialist textile manufacturer. Commenting on the transition, Marketing Director, David Cormack said “In Ian, we have found someone with shared values, a good understanding of manufacturing and textiles and a person who can build rapport with our team at Cormar, together with our suppliers and customers.”
Advanced Pricing Notice Correspondence
Dear Sir/Madam, Like many other manufacturers, over the last few months we have experienced cost increases in our supply chain and distribution costs. The awful war in Ukraine and the market uncertainty it has generated, together with the impact on fuel prices has added to existing inflationary pressures. As consequence, we will be increasing our prices with effect from 23rd May. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be reviewing the prices of each of our ranges. At the beginning of May, we will then write to you again with the exact details of your new prices. We recognise that price increases are never appreciated, but the current market conditions make it unavoidable. That said, at Cormar we are continuing to forge ahead with a new range, Riva being launched later this month, with more planned throughout the year. In addition, we continue to invest in our manufacturing and delivery fleet as well as our industry leading Trade Portal. All of which continue to provide a consistent, reliable and professional service to you, our customer. Thank you for your support. We very much appreciate it and trust you continue to thrive in the market headwinds. Yours faithfully, David Cormack Marketing Director
Cormar expands its fleet with 7 new additions
Cormar own and operate one of the largest flooring distribution fleets in the UK, delivering nationwide via over 70 trucks to carpet retailers throughout the working week. This month we are the proud recipients of seven brand new Leyland DAF tractor units, to add to the extensive Cormar delivery fleet. The new units will operate out of our factory in Bury, Lancashire, transporting stock to our southern distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead. The new tractor units have been sourced locally from Lancashire DAF, based in Leyland. As a family run, British manufacturer, we believe it’s important to continue to work with local, British companies where possible. Gary Mitchell, Cormar’s distribution manager said “We continue to invest in new trucks to ensure we achieve the high service levels that our customers have come to rely on, whilst complying with environmental standards. DAF trucks are a favourite with our drivers and it’s great to work with another local business.” Operational later this month, these trucks will showcase the latest Cormar branding and will be responsible for transporting around a million square metres of carpet per year - ensuring that Cormar continue to deliver promptly and on time.
Following the successful launches of the 80/20 wool twist, Woodland Heather Twist and the contemporary stippled Primo Tweeds, we are starting 2022 by launching a new addition to our extremely popular easy clean family, Linwood. Made with 100% Excellon – a polypropylene fibre renowned for its stain resistance and hardwearing properties – Linwood also comes with a 10 year stain and wear warranty, providing today’s hectic households with added peace of mind. This soft yet durable range is manufactured on tenth gauge machinery to ensure a dense, luxurious finish and is available in four and five metre widths. Featured in an extensive palette of 16 modern shades, the collection is a mix of plains and heathers in a luxury twist pile. “We’ve had great success with our ‘family’ of easy-clean carpets over the past few years, as homeowners increasingly look for durable, great value, low maintenance carpets. With that in mind, we created Linwood to sit between our Primo Plus and Primo Ultra ranges, offering homeowners more choice when looking for something that ticks all the boxes of a luxury, family friendly carpet at an attractive, affordable price.” As well as bringing a new bank of on-trend shades to our easy clean family, Linwood will be displayed on our new-look point of sale material, featuring an eye-catching design and communicating the ranges key benefits to the consumer.
With Christmas just around the corner, we'd like to thank you for your support during 2021. We hope you are enjoying the seasonal uplift in demand for carpets, after what has been another successful, though unsettled year. In spite of the difficulties surrounding distribution, rising inflation and labour shortages, we are pleased to have been able to provide the high levels of service expected of Cormar. In order to make way for the introduction of a new range, arriving January 2022, we will be discontinuing our Gemini range, with effect from January. Whilst some colours will be available into February, please check the stock availability on our Trade Portal or via our Sales Office, prior to committing to an order. We look forward to announcing our new range early in the New Year. Please note, our last delivery date before Christmas is Thursday 23rd December and our offices close on the same day and re-open on Tuesday 4th January. November Price Increase
Dear Sir/Madam, Last year the problems we tackled at Cormar were very much based around the closure during the first pandemic lockdown, together with the rapid increase in demand following on from this. In 2021 the issues facing manufacturers are based around inflationary pressures on raw materials and the rising cost of distribution, whether that be overseas container-based freight or distribution through the UK. Since we wrote to you in the early part of the summer, we have seen a further escalation of these costs and though we try to limit the amount of price increases we pass on, unfortunately it is necessary to apply another price increase from 8th November 2021. Though we will not be applying an increase to our latest new range – Primo Tweeds. We fully recognise the sensitivity around price increases and as such we have moderated the increase accordingly. Although an increase is necessary to ensure we can meet our service promise to you, going forward. We very much appreciate your understanding and thank you for your business. To view the latest price booklet, click here. Yours sincerely, David Cormack Marketing Director PLEASE NOTE: Orders placed for immediate delivery by telephone or email received before 5.00pm on Friday 5th November 2021 will not be subject to the increase. For Online Orders (via our Web Portal) the deadline is midnight on Sunday 7th November 2021.
New Primo Tweeds
Primo Tweeds is a brand-new, bleach cleanable, family friendly carpet in a contemporary stippled design. Tufted on 10th gauge machinery and made from the same 100% Excellon Polypropylene as our other Easy Clean family members, the new range retains the desirable stain-resisting and hardwearing properties and comes with a full 10-year stain and wear warranty, providing peace of mind for consumers. Available in both 4m and 5m widths, the contemporary design is available in a colour bank of 14 different shades, ranging from vibrant reds to dappled neutral tones, bringing further colourful choices to homeowners. “Our Easy Clean collection continues to grow in popularity as a reliable and hardwearing choice for family homes as well as general contract locations. So we’re excited to expand the collection this Autumn to offer even more choice for durable, low maintenance carpets at great value with this new striking design.” As well as providing a new contemporary look to our Primo family, Primo Tweeds will be displayed on our new-look point of sale material, featuring an eye-catching design and communicating the ranges key benefits to the consumer.
Flooring Innovation Award Winner 2021
Voted for by leading trade magazine ‘The Stocklists’, Cormar has picked up an award in the Natural Carpet category of the Flooring Innovation Awards for our recently launched Woodland Heather Twist range. This award follows a run of industry wins, most recently, being voted ‘Best Carpet Manufacturer’ by readers of Interiors Monthly. The Flooring Innovation Awards recognise everything that’s new, exciting and innovative in the UK floorcoverings sector. We are extremely proud of our Woodland Heather Twist range and are delighted to have received this award. Made from 80% Pure New Wool, 10% Polypropylene and 10% Tuftbond, Woodland Heather Twist is a premier, fine quality tenth gauge carpet, available in two pile weights, Elite and Deluxe. This range is suitable for extra heavy domestic use, making it ideal for high traffic areas such as stairways and hallways. Woodland Heather Twist has a strong palette of 14 popular heather shades including creams, beiges and greys such as Cheviot Cloud, Dove Grey and Peregrine. Durable, resilient and luxurious, Woodland Heather Twist combines the natural beauty of wool with long-lasting looks. Marketing Director David Cormack comments “we’re so pleased to have won two awards this year. It’s a fantastic achievement for Cormar Carpet Company. We pride ourselves on continually producing new ranges that appeal to modern day, busy homes, alongside providing an industry-leading delivery service and excellent product quality. The fact we’ve won not one, but two awards, is testament to all the hard work we’ve put in over the past year.”
Interiors Monthly Award Winner 2021
For the ninth year in succession Cormar Carpet Company is delighted to be voted the UK’s “Best Carpet Manufacturer” by readers of Interiors Monthly. Taking home the award again is a great privilege and we would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers, suppliers and business colleagues for their ongoing support over what has been a very turbulent year. Twelve months ago, when we last lifted the award, the world was in the grip of a global pandemic, and everyone had to readjust to incorporate all the changes which COVID-19 had bought. However, in 2021, the year in which we celebrate our 65th Birthday, we are still busy manufacturing in the UK and going from strength to strength. The key to our success has been our amazing team of people that work behind the scenes to ensure a first-class delivery service to all our customers. In addition to the team spirit, we have continued to invest throughout the pandemic. In the last year two new ranges have been successfully launched. The first was Inglewood Saxony, a deep pile polypropylene saxony carpet, launched in the summer of 2020. The second, Woodland Heather Twist launched earlier in the spring of this year is an 80% wool twist produced in two qualities in a strong collection of heather shades. Marketing Director David Cormack has said: “To be awarded the Best Carpet Manufacturer for the ninth year in a row is a huge honour for all at Cormar Carpets and is testament to the way that the team has pulled together and worked so hard over the past year. “We still manufacture all our carpet in Great Britain and the fact that we also own and control our own delivery fleet has especially paid dividends this year – providing further reliability at a time of uncertainty for many. The recent investment in the Southern Regional Distribution Centre in Hemel Hempstead has also been a tremendous attribute this year, allowing us to flex with the unusually high demand.” Another service which is thriving is Cormar’s award-winning trade portal, it is now used by over 50% of our customers. The online service is the market leader in the carpet trade giving retailers the opportunity to quickly place orders, receive a delivery date and check stock levels in real time, ensuring prompt delivery times for end customers. As David concluded: “Over the past 65 years we have grown the brand immensely and this year, in spite of the pandemic and restrictions looks like it will be another successful one! And for that I’d like to say a big thank you for the support our customers give us.”
July Price Increase
Dear Sir/Madam, Since we last wrote to you at the beginning of March, we have faced continuing increases in our raw material and manufacturing costs. As a consequence, we will be having a price increase from 5th July 2021, although we will not be applying any increase to the recently launched Woodland Heather Twist range. When we last applied an increase, we were hoping that raw material costs would reduce over the coming months and as such, we moderated our increase at the time. However, since then costs have continued to increase and although some are beginning to soften, they remain high and the impact is likely to continue for some considerable time. Therefore, to ensure that we continue to provide the high level of service our customers require, we hope you will understand that another modest increase is necessary. We hope that with the relaxation of the COVID restrictions, your business is enjoying healthy sales and we thank you once again for your ongoing support. To view the latest price booklet, click here. Thank you for your ongoing support. Yours sincerely, Tim Eagles

A Welcome Return...
I hope you enjoyed the Easter break, it has been a long 3 months of lockdown and I’m sure that you’ll be delighted to finally be opening your doors to trade once again. You’ll be pleased to know that at Cormar we have been busy securing raw materials and manufacturing plenty of carpet during lockdown, building stock availability in anticipation of an upturn in business. That said, trade over recent weeks has remained remarkably buoyant and this will no doubt continue, following the recent home decoration activity. Our Sales Team will be out and about from Monday 12th April, ensuring you are prepared for the re-opening - updating displays and in-store sampling, including our recent range launches. Later in April, we will be launching another new range, which we are very excited about and which we believe will provide yet another reason to promote Cormar to your customers. April Price Increase
Dear Sir/Madam, We hope that the year has started reasonably well for you, in spite of the Government trading restrictions and now more certainty with the release of lockdown in sight. Since our last price increase in November 2018, we have incurred increases in our manufacturing, distribution and raw material costs. We have held our prices for as long as possible because of the uncertain nature of trade caused by the pandemic and then the outcome of the Brexit negotiations. However, it will be necessary to have a price increase from Tuesday 6th April 2021. It is also necessary to highlight that within the last few weeks, raw material prices have escalated rapidly again, including polypropylene yarn, backing cloths and latex. As such, should current inflationary pressures continue, we will need to further review our prices. You will shortly receive an Address and Information Sheet, giving details of your new prices. Thank you for your ongoing support. Yours sincerely, Tim Eagles Chief Executive PLEASE NOTE: Orders placed for immediate delivery by telephone or email received before 5.00pm on Thursday 1st April 2021 will not be subject to the increase. For Online Orders (via our Web Portal) the deadline is midnight on Monday 5th April 2021.
January Lockdown Update
First and foremost, can I take the opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year. I hope you had a good break and are keeping well. Following the Government’s announcement of further restrictions throughout England last night, I wanted to advise you of our plans during the lockdown. Whilst the new restrictions are directly related to England, similar rules apply across the whole of the U.K. and Ireland. Given how busy trade has been in recent months and following the Government guidelines we wish to assure you that Cormar will continue to manufacture and deliver to you as normal. We are aware that business has overflowed from the Autumn into the New Year, with fittings already planned. Therefore, going forward we believe the majority of retailers will wish to continue to accept deliveries. Equally part of our business is servicing the house-building sector, which remains open. However, if you do wish to stop us delivering to you or defer any current orders, would you please email us at email@example.com and we will update your account records accordingly. As an alternative and possibly a more convenient option to store delivery, can we suggest you consider using our Collection Centre network which is available to view by clicking here. Our trade portal is also available 24/7 to check stock, place orders and provide information on our products, services and any further supply updates. Obviously, the current escalation of COVID is a great concern for us all. As such at Cormar, we have already taking precautions to avoid the spread of the virus at our mills and within our distribution network. Over the coming weeks and months, extra vigilance will be maintained. Thank you for your ongoing support and once again best wishes for the year ahead. Yours sincerely, Tim EaglesChief Executive

Following the Government’s announcement of further restrictions throughout England last night, we wanted to advise you of our plans over the next four weeks of lockdown. Whilst the new restrictions are related to England, our service offer is universal to the whole of the U.K. and Ireland. Given how busy trade has been for us all over the Autumn and following the Government guidelines we wish to assure you that we will continue to manufacture and deliver to you as normal. With Christmas just around the corner and fittings planned, we believe the majority of retailers will wish to continue to accept deliveries. Equally, part of our business is servicing the house-building sector, which remains open. However, if you do wish to stop us delivering to you over the next four weeks, would you please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will update your account records accordingly. As an alternative to store delivery, can we suggest that you consider using our Collection Centre network which is available to view below this email. Obviously, the current escalation of COVID is a great concern for us all. As such at Cormar, wehave already taken precautions to avoid the spread of the virus at our mills and within our distribution network. Cormar Launches New Wool Loop Range
Introducing the latest quality from Cormar - ‘Southwold’ is a new wool loop pile carpet in two designs – a popular textured style and a contemporary level option. Following in the footsteps of Cormar’s long-running Malabar range, Southwold provides a plain alternative in eight grey and neutral shades. Southwold is produced using 100% New Zealand Wool in a moth resistant two-ply yarn, enabling a cleaner, brighter effect for lighter shades. Ideal for traditional or modern homes, it is available in both 4 and 5 metre widths and is expected to retail below 30 sq metre. David Cormack, marketing director explains ‘Wool is enjoying a renaissance in the carpet market, at the moment. With the increasing emphasis on the environment, people are recognising the many attributes of wool as a natural fibre. So the timing is right to capitalise on this trend, whilst at the same time adding another dimension to the Cormar product portfolio.’ All Cormar’s wool loop pile, wool twist and easy clean polypropylene ranges are manufactured in the UK at its Lancashire mills and distributed throughout Britain and Ireland via its own delivery fleet. Cormar Wins Again!
Thirteen may be unlucky for some – but not for Cormar Carpet Company which has won Flooring One’s Supplier of The Year award for the 13th consecutive year. The accolade cements the carpet manufacturer’s leading position in the industry as a company that produces high-quality products, invests in staff and expertly services the flooring industry. Cormar picked up the award at the Buying Group National Flooring Show, held at Flooring One’s head office in Solihull. Voted for by members of the buying group, the scores are based on delivery performance, quality and response to quality issues, products and sales support/communication. “We’re delighted to, once again, be recognised for all the dedication and commitment from our Cormar team,” said David Cormack, marketing director at Cormar. “To be awarded Supplier of the Year for 13 years running is a fantastic achievement. We really do pride ourselves on continually producing new ranges and providing industry-leading delivery, excellent product quality and first-class customer service.”
Primo Makes a Grande Entrance
Cormar Carpet Company have added a new flagship range to their popular easy clean twist carpet collection. Primo Grande is an extra heavyweight, bleach cleanable, twist pile carpet made from 100% Excellon Polypropylene - a fibre renowned for its stain resistance and hardwearing properties. It comes with Cormar’s 10-year stain and wear warranty and is available in four and five-metre widths. It’s expected to retail at around £27 per sqm. With an extensive palette of 16 modern shades, the collection is a mix of plains and heathers in a luxury twist pile. Said David Cormack of Cormar Carpets: “Heavyweight, easy clean, polypropylene carpets are an increasingly popular and reliable choice for homes. So it’s important for us to make sure that cover all the bases and all the price points. “We’ve had great success with our ‘family’ of Primo easy-clean carpets over the past few years, as homeowners increasingly look for durable, great value, low maintenance carpets. With that in mind, we’ve continued to update and expand our Primo collection to give customers even more choice.”
Cormar Service & Brexit
It's a year now since we moved into our new Southern Regional Distribution Centre in Hemel Hempstead. This investment in 130,000 sq ft of warehouse space, incorporating two new cut length machines, a sortation system and new loading bays, has undoubtedly helped Cormar improve our delivery service to retailers in the South, and by liberating space at Brookhouse Mill has also improved service in the north of the UK as well. In fact, in the run-up to Christmas and the early part of 2019, our delivery performance to our customers has consistently exceeded 96%, which we are sure will have helped you run your business and plan your fitting schedules. This brings us to the outlook for the next few months, whatever your views are on Brexit, one thing is absolutely certain - the Earth will continue to spin on its axis after 29th March! Which is why, here at Cormar, we've been working hard internally and with our overseas yarn and raw material suppliers to build stock, in case of any disruption at the UK ports. We already hold significant yarn stocks at our sites around the UK, which means that we have simply been able to extend that facility. Clearly, the nature of uncertainty cannot prepare us for all eventualities, but for Cormar, having carpet manufacturing, storage and distribution here in the UK will undoubtedly be an advantage in the case of a disruptive Brexit. So, going forward, please be assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure we continue to support you and your customers, with the award-winning service that you are accustomed to from Cormar Carpet Company.
More Choice From Cormar
A new colour palette is behind the relaunch of Cormar Carpet Company’s Primo Choice range. The stain resistant heather collection, originally launched in 2012, has extended its colour bank to 15 shades and been infused with nine new contemporary hues, including Zinc and Light Azore, as well as retaining six of the original best-selling shades. Made from 100% Excellon polypropylene fibre and available in two qualities, "Elite" and "Super", Primo Choice has all the easy clean, stain resistant and bleach cleanable qualities of Cormar’s other Primo ranges. It is a two-ply yarn, tufted on 10th gauge for a finer look and improved pile density and performance. And from 2019, Primo Choice also comes with Cormar’s increasingly popular 10 Year Stain and Wear Warranty. “We had such a great reaction to the relaunch of our Apollo Plus and Primo Ultra collections – both 10th gauge twist piles, so it made sense to reinvigorate this range,” said David Cormack, marketing director at Cormar. “After six years, colour trends have moved on and now there is a demand for a more urban palette of greys and stony neutrals among consumers. And with two weights and price points available, it gives both the retailer and consumer, more choice.” Cormar Carpet Company produces all its carpet ranges from two sites near Bury, Lancashire and through its new regional distribution centre is in Hemel Hempstead, with a network of out-bases throughout the UK.
Two New Salesmen For Ireland as Cormar Salesforce Continues to Grow
We have recently recruited not one, but two new Salesmen for Ireland. Due to the size of Ireland as a whole, the growth over the years and challenges of covering the area geographically, we have decided to split the territory into North and South. In Northern Ireland, Brian Symington has been recruited. Brian has plenty of industry sales experience, having previously worked for Phloor for 11 years, as well as having a retail background prior to that. The Southern area of Ireland is being covered by Seamus Foody, who also has extensive carpet and flooring sales experience, with O’Deas, an Irish flooring wholesaler, Curragh, Axminster Carpets and Westex Carpets. Brian and Seamus both have vast knowledge of the Irish carpet market and already bring strong, established relationships with their customers. We are thrilled to welcome them to the Cormar team!

If you have any further questions regarding the changes, please get in touch with your local rep or call: 01204 881200 Don’t miss out on our extended winter opening hours!
New Additions to Cormar's Fleet
Award-winning manufacturer Cormar Carpet Company is all set to drive forward into 2019 with new additions to its delivery fleet – the first to feature the new look branding. The 12 new trucks bring the total to 77 vehicles, just in time for the busiest period of the year. It is the largest manufacturer owned carpet fleet in the industry – and will showcase Cormar’s new livery, as well as providing significant changes to the configuration of the trucks. Said Gary Mitchell, Cormar’s distribution manager: “The extra 12 vehicles represent an investment of over £1.5m as part of the rolling annual fleet replacement programme. This is on top of the major multi-million-pound investment in the Southern Regional Distribution centre at Hemel Hempstead and the redevelopment of our brand look and identity. Further customised adaptations to the cabs include extra driver safety features –improved lighting, non-slip flooring plus adapted ladders and handles for safer and more efficient handling. “The new vehicles will optimise the fleet, meeting the increase in demand in the peak period up to Christmas and ensure we maintain our high standards of service for our retail customers. With over 170,000 deliveries per year, the fleet needs constant investment to ensure that Cormar are number one in the carpet trade for service and reliability.” It was over five decades ago that Cormar decided to make door-to-door delivery to retailers part of its service. Now from its base in Bury, Lancashire and it’s newly built southern distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead, Cormar delivers right across the UK direct to retailers and also through 27 strategically located collection centres, offering a 48-hour nationwide turnaround service to customers.
Gemini – All Year Round
Named Gemini, but providing all-year-round comfort, the newest range from Cormar Carpet Company, looks set to be a winner. Gemini is Cormar’s first range made from 100% Dura Polyester, developed to combine resilience, stain resistance and softness all in one fibre. The carpet is also manufactured using tenth gauge machinery to give a dense pile surface that’s ideal for all areas of the home. The soft, deep-pile range includes 13 on trend, plain shades, including a wide range of subtly different greys and neutrals, to appeal to current consumer tastes. Gemini, like all Cormar qualities, is British made at their mills in Lancashire and comes with a 10 Year Stain & Wear Guarantee. Gemini is expected to retail around £25 per sq m. Said David Cormar, marketing director at Cormar: “Market lead and in tune with today’s consumers; Gemini has been developed to satisfy the current trend for softer, more luxurious feeling, premium carpet. And as polyester has become more accessibly priced, we have a new range using the Dura fibre that combines resilience and durability with practicality and stain resistance. “ The Cormar Carpet Company produces all its carpet ranges from two production sites near Bury, in Lancashire. Its new regional distribution centre is in Hemel Hempstead, with a network of out-bases throughout the UK. It also owns its own fleet of over 60 vehicles to ensure a fast delivery service to customers, as well as servicing its retail customers through a team of 29 sales representatives throughout Britain and Ireland.
National Flooring Show 2018
Displaying their recently updated new branding, Cormar once again exhibited at the industry’s main flooring trade show, in the North Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate. This year though, in addition to main carpet stand, the company promoted their award winning ‘Trade Portal’ – an online ordering interface for trade customers, on an adjacent stand. The trade exhibition which takes place every Autumn in Harrogate, has been held there for over 50 years. Once again attendance was good and Cormar played host to many of their customers from the UK and Ireland. This year, the ranges that were promoted at the show included the year’s new and re-launched qualities, Apollo Comfort, Home Counties Plains and Apollo Plus. In addition a new range called Gemini was previewed at the show, ready for it’s launch in October. Commenting on the show, David Cormack Marketing Director said; The Harrogate Flooring Exhibition has always been a great success for Cormar – our customers know where we are and whether they choose to come every year or every other year, they are always guaranteed a warm welcome.’ ‘Fortunately this year we were able to take more space at the show, with a stand to specially promote our Trade Portal. This gave us a great opportunity to explain the new features to existing users, as well as customers that have not already used it. Over 40% of our orders are now placed online via the portal, so it made sense to have a stand dedicated to this service.’
Cormar Carpets Win at Flooring Innovation Awards
Bury-based The Cormar Carpet Company is celebrating an awards double, adding a further pair of accolades to its growing list of industry honours. Voted for by leading trade magazine ‘The Stocklists’, Cormar has picked up two Golds in the Flooring Innovation Awards, which recognise everything that’s new, exciting and innovative in the UK floorcoverings sector. It follows a run of industry wins that include Best Carpet Manufacturer and two Supplier of the Year awards. Cormar’s industry-leading online trade portal – which allows flooring retailers to stock check, order online and manage payments – was awarded Gold in the Services category. It also scooped Gold in ‘Marketing’ for its recent brand relaunch and new consumer website. The company’s brand new look – the first in over a quarter of a century – was a significant investment in moving the business forward and has been backed with a new website that has been re-engineered and re-designed to inspire and motivate consumers. “Once again, everyone at Cormar is to be congratulated,” said David Judge, managing director at Cormar. “Awards such as these are won by a whole team of people whose efforts contribute to the quality of our offering and the efficiency of our customer service. “We’ve had a very busy year launching our new brand identity and overhauling all our marketing collateral, all while ensuring we keep our exacting standards in our products and services. Cormar Carpet Co - Best Of British
Cormar have been voted "Best Carpet Manufacturer 2018" by retailers and readers of leading trade Magazine, Interiors Monthly. David Cormack, Marketing Director, explains what this means for Cormar... Winning Best Carpet Manufacturer adds another element of success to a notable year for the Cormar Carpet Company which recently unveiled a brand new look – the first corporate update in over a quarter of a century. “To be voted Best Carpet Manufacturer, for the sixth consecutive year, by the readers of Interiors Monthly is an incredible achievement,” said David Cormack, marketing director of Cormar, one of the UK’s leading carpet manufacturers. “This year we’ve made huge investments in the business that take us forward as a dynamic and leading edge player in the market so it’s great for the Cormar team to be recognised once again for the hard work and determination that they have put in.” At the start of the year, Cormar opened the doors to a new 130,000 sq ft distribution centre, based in Hemel Hempstead, which consolidated and strengthened its national distribution network across the South of England. The multi-million pound infrastructure houses two cut length machines and a sortation system which allows Cormar to stock up to 2,500 rolls of carpet. Last month, the company launched its new look as the ‘Cormar Carpet Company’ reflecting its ongoing specialism in carpets. Developed with the consumer at the forefront of the redesign and following extensive research, the intention is to bring a more ‘home furnishing’ style to the brand and drive traffic through to retailers. “While we may have a fresh image, we are still maintaining the company’s core values: family owned and British made and the brand will continue to be supported with high-performing products, excellent customer service and an efficient delivery service,” said David.
12 TIMES A SUCCESS FOR CORMAR!
Cormar Carpets has won Flooring One’s Supplier of The Year award – providing evidence once again, of it’s leading position in the UK carpet manufacturing industry. The only company to have been crowned with the title for the 12th consecutive year, Cormar picked up the award at the Buying Group National Flooring Show, held in May held at Flooring One’s head office in Solihull. Voted for by members of the buying group, the scores are based on delivery performance, quality and response to quality issues, products and sales support/communication. “To be awarded Supplier of the Year for 12 years running is such an accolade,” said David Cormack, marketing director at Cormar Carpets. “It makes us immensely proud of all the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment everyone at the company has put in to continue delivering our market leading products, first class delivery service and excellent customer service.” Cormar continues to produce all its wool and polypropylene carpet ranges from its two production sites near Bury in Lancashire. On 12-15 January, Cormar exhibited at Domotex, in Hannover (Germany), the world’s largest annual international flooring show. It’s a great showcase for Cormar to meet potential international customers and an opportunity to meet with our suppliers! Our directors, Regional Sales Managers and Export Sales Manager, Robert Mulder were all present. From the production & development side of our company, Craig Rumens and Jason Clarke completed the Domotex Team. We met with many of our key UK and international customers, giving chance to discuss current business as well as our new ranges. After years of recession, it was apparent that people were smiling again! Customers are usually reluctant to pay for samples, displays and wall units, but this year it did not seem to be an issue at all. When customers spend money on sampling, they will make a much bigger effort to sell our products in order to win their investments back! Just like in previous years, our Cormar stand looked fabulous, giving us the right image of the professional company we are! Although this year we moved from Hall 5 to Hall 11, together with most European carpet manufacturers, we had a great location again being clearly visible from all angles. While our market is predominantly the UK, the demand for our carpets internationally continues to increase. Therefore, Domotex is a golden opportunity to show our carpet collection to an international audience, including the most recent new ranges such as Soft Focus Heathers, Sensation Heathers and Apollo Plus & Elite. Being able to exhibit our entire product range presented on nice wall units was also very useful. When we travel and visit our customers, sales people are usually restricted in bringing samples over. Therefore having a nice big stand with great product presentations makes life a lot easier.! A huge “Thank you” to everybody for making this exhibition successful again!
Carpet Re-cycling UK (CRUK)
Most of you will know Cormar are big supporters of Carpet Re-cycling UK (CRUC). This is an organisation that was set up in 2008, with the intention of diverting over 709,000 tonnes of carpet waste created every year (the equivalent to 43,846 football pitches) - from landfill to recycling or energy recovery. Back in 2007, only 2% of carpet waste created was re-cycled. In 2016 that figure had increased to 35% and last year the diversion rate was 42%. The goal for CRUC is to achieve 60% by 2020. The manufacturers and distributers that support CRUK also continued to grow last year, while retailers and flooring contractor members have also increased, as more flooring companies recognise the cost savings and sustainability impact on their businesses. Awareness and interest in recycling carpet waste continues to grow, with a 28% increase in enquiries over the phone, online and at events. In addition, an increasing social media presence has enhanced their visibility. All in all, an encouraging picture for the industry and this clearly shows that the focus directed by CRUK and its’ associate members, is having a positive effect.

Tufted on 1/10th gauge machinery for a finer, denser pile it now comes with a 10 year stain and wear warranty. Said marketing director David Cormack: "Since its launch in 2014, Apollo Plus has offered tremendous value with a choice of popular colours. Since then, there has been a marked change in demand towards more grey and neutral shades and as a result, we have included a wider choice of plains and heathers in the new palette." Welcome Our New Tufting Operations Manager
We extend a warm welcome to Matt Lord, who has been appointed Tufting Operations Manager and started with us on the 4th December. Matt lives in Ashton Under Lyne and is married with two children aged 12 and 15. A big Manchester City supporter, Matt has vast manufacturing experience including a number of leading FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) brands, with 3 years at both Warburtons and McVities amongst a manufacturing career spanning over 20 years. As the newly appointed Tufting Operations Manager, based at Holme Mill of course, Matt will be responsible for day to day operations. There will be particular focus on quality processes, team culture and in helping us improve operational standards and efficiencies. It's a key new role and we are delighted to have Matt on board with "Team Cormar"!
Welcome To Two New Salesmen...
We're pleased to announce that two new salesmen have joined Cormar in December. Christopher Holloway will take over from Lynda Lockhart who has recently retired. Lynda worked 21 years with the company and covered North / East Yorkshire. Chris has over 10 years' experience in the carpet industry working for both distributors and manufactures during this time. He will be familiar to many of our customers across the region and looks forward to continuing building the Cormar presence. Jason Willis will cover the South Wales and Gloucester territory and takes over from John Bevan who has also retired, after working 26 years for Cormar. Following a period in the armed forces, Jason found his passion for carpets, with over 8 years experience in distribution. During that time he has been very successful and will also be a familiar face to many of our customers. Both have undergone their induction programme and are now on their territory's visiting customers, both old and new. We welcome them to Cormar and know they will both have long and successful careers, as did their predecessors.
New Trucks at Cormar Carpets
To support the growth in the business, once again we have turned to DAF to purchase 10 new trucks. This has enabled us underpin the network and deliver our peak volumes. Lead times on trucks and the specialised equipment needed for our operation are growing due to higher demand on the engineering companies that build the chassis and bodies. This results in us having to place these orders very early in the year. Once an order is placed we carefully monitor our suppliers to ensure they meet their deadline. This year we had a number of emergency meetings to keep the pressure on the chassis builder, to deliver on time, as they were faced with their own supply problems. With the opening of the SRDC we will be moving away from the cross-docking of carpets and moving back to the demount box trunking operation. This gives us improves vehicle efficiency and improves quality, as a consequence of less manual handling. However it also means we had to reconfigure the fleet to accommodate this. So earlier this year in March, we ordered 8 new CF75s with specialist drawbar chassis to cover the "trunking" of trailers with loaded boxes. We also ordered 2 LF55s with the ability to run with demountable bodies. As the photos show, the trucks look great and over the busy Autumn they have been put to good use! Cormar continue to invest in commercial fleet in other ways too, example, by providing our drivers with the latest technology such as lane departure warnings and assisted braking.
NEW Apollo Elite set to take-off...
This autumn, Cormar Carpets is launching another new carpet collection that is simply out of this world! Apollo Elite joins Cormar’s easy clean family using the same 100% Excellon fibre as its sister range, Apollo Plus. It is tufted on 1/10thth gauge machinery and features a colour bank of 14 popular shades – four plains and 10 heathers – with a core of greys and neutrals including Campsie Cliff and Grey Partridge. “Apollo Plus has been a successful entry level range for us, over the past four years,” said David Cormack, marketing director of Cormar Carpets. “Now we felt the time was right to introduce a great value, more premium-led collection. “We’ve taken the same concept and developed the yarn, as well as increasing the pile height and weight to engineer a premier product that is still fantastic value-for-moneyand which looks and feels fantastic. Given the uncertain economic climate, this well priced carpet range will appeal to new homeowners and those on a budget who want to bring affordable quality and style into their home.” In line with other members of Cormar’s easy clean family of products, Apollo Elite is bleach cleanable and stain resistant, carrying a 10 year wear and stain warranty. It is expected to retail under £20 sq m and comes in both 4m and 5m widths. All Cormar’s stain resistant polypropylene carpets, as well as it’s wool twists and wool loops are produced on site as its Lancashire mills and distributed in the UK and Eire via its own delivery fleet. NEW For 2017...
Hot on the heels of the recently refreshed Sensation range comes Soft Focus Heathers, a new super soft, easy clean carpet from Cormar Carpets, the UK’s leading independent tufted carpet manufacturer. Using the same fine, soft polypropylene Finesse fibre as the original Soft Focus range, the new addition is a 10th gauge, deep pile carpet that is ideal for all areas of the home and has a 10 year stain and wear warranty. With a strong palette of contemporary greys and neutrals, there are 12 heather shades to choose from including Nocturne and Lunar Grey. It's expected to retail around £24 sq/m and comes in both 4m and 5m widths. “Soft Focus has been a real success for us so it made sense to broaden the palette and give consumers the choice of more tonal colours,” said David Cormack, marketing director of Cormar Carpets. “There’s an interesting regional balance with plains more popular in the south east but nationally, heathers are very strong for Cormar.” All Cormar’s wool twist, wool loop and easy clean polypropylene ranges are produced on site at its Lancashire mills and distributed in the UK and Eire via its own delivery fleet.

Sensation - The Best Just Got Better!
British carpet manufacturer, Cormar Carpets, has re-launched its hugely successful, Easy Clean, Sensation carpet range with six brand new colours. Value-for-money and practicality has become a top priority for many consumers choosing a new carpet, as they increasingly look for hardwearing, well priced, stain resistant carpets. This has resulted in polypropylene carpets becoming more and more popular in the market due to their bleach cleanable, stain resistant properties. One of the leading ranges in Cormar’s Easy Clean polypropylene carpet collection is Sensation made with 100% Luxelle. This ground breaking fibre has been engineered to create a soft carpet, which feels more luxurious whilst retaining all the practical living qualities of a standard polypropylene carpet. The range also includes a 10 year stain warranty and is available in two qualities heavy weight Original and lighter weight Feeling in both four and five metre widths. Produced using a two-fold specialised yarn to create a lustrous handle, the six new carpet shades include two modern greys, Atlantic Seal and Rydal Stone, as well as two traditionally popular browns - Moccasin and Tuscan Clay. Said David Cormack, marketing director of Cormar Carpets: “Sensation has been a real winner since its launch in 2012. Both the feel of the carpet and the colours have had tremendous impact. But at Cormar we are constantly striving to keep ahead and so with home furnishing trends constantly evolving, it made sense to introduce an updated colour palette, in time for the usual Autumn up-lift in sales.”
